The Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, WI and the State of Wisconsin have both recognized Roger Hellen's Brown Trout caught last summer in Racine, WI as the new world record.

Roger Hellen of Racine, WI caught this 41 pound 8 oz. brown trout surpassing the previous record of 41 pounds 7 oz caught in Michigan in 2009.
A fish more than 25 pounds must be more than 0.5% above the standing world record according to the International Game Fish Association rules, but everyone knows which is bigger.
Roger was participating in Racine's Salmon-A-Rama tournament last July and won the $10,000 grand prize. Hellen was trolling in Lake Michigan just off of the shore when he landed this lunker.
The International Game Fish Association will give Hellen's fish one lone distinction - it will be listed as the brown trout world record in the 50-pound line class (the organization keeps records for many line strengths). Hellen caught the fish on a reel spooled with 50-pound backing, two colors of lead core line with a 27-pound rating, and a 20-foot leader of 20-pound test monofilament.
Hellen's brown trout becomes the second Wisconsin fish to be listed as an all-tackle world record by International Game Fish Association. The other is the 67-pound, 8-ounce musky caught in 1949 on Lac Court Oreilles by Cal Johnson.

By Paul A. Smith of the Journal Sentinel
The early morning fishing scene on Government Pier near McKinley Marina in Milwaukee was fairly typical for the first couple hours Wednesday - anglers caught a few yellow perch, brown trout and chinook salmon.
But then something happened that made July 7 a rare fishing day anywhere, especially Milwaukee's lakefront - an angler caught a 48-inch musky.

This Sturgeon was caught at TWO CREEKS CONSERVATION AREA, Wheatley, ON (at Lake Erie )
It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11'1'. It was 56'' around the girth; any Sturgeon OVER five feet has to be released unharmed and cannot be removed from the water. They are brood/breeding stock and probably older than most of us.

First Hand Explanation: "I was going to build the Gazebo on the edge of my dock down by the lake but I thought ...I might just as well build the deck with floats on it and I can then take it out fishing too..... Has 15,000 lbs capacity.
The deck is 18ft x 18ft with 12 plastic foam filled dock floats that are 4ft x 4ft by 18 inches high and the Gazebo is 10 ft. Hexagon with a table and chairs.

Inside, under the table is my trolling motor so I can take it out to my favorite fishing hole. The trolling motor is remote controlled wireless so I can be fishing outside and operate the motor. On the top of the table I have a LOWRANCE Fish-Finder with depth sounding sonars and temp gauge. I have 2 electric winches with 40 lbs anchors. I have also built in a water pump so I can clean the fish right on the spot.
Now I can relax and fish while my wife can sit and relax."

Texas Catfish Recruited By the San Antonio Spurs
A guy who lives at Lake Conroe
(50 miles north of Houston ) saw a ball bouncing
around kind of strange in the lake and went to
investigate.
It turned out to be a flathead catfish that had
apparently tried to swallow a basketball which
became stuck in its mouth!!
The fish was totally exhausted from trying to
dive, but unable to, because the ball would
always bring him back up to the surface.
The guy tried numerous times to get the ball out,
but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut
the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry
catfish.
