Don Wisconsin Fishing Report September 16th

Weekly fishing report Posted: Sept. 16, 2009 AREA LAKES Fishing has improved with the stable weather and warmer water temperatures. Musky anglers continue to do well, with Pewaukee providing the most action. Casting around weeds in 6-12 feet of water with bucktails, glide baits and jerk baits has produced many fish. "Following" muskies also have taken suckers on quick-strike rigs. Northern pike have been active. Fishing the deeper weed lines with a slip-sinker rig or jig baited with a mediu… Continue

Don Wisconsin Fishing Report - Aug. 12th, 2009

Weekly fishing report Posted: Aug. 12, 2009 AREA LAKES Bluegill anglers had their best luck fishing the weed lines in 12 to 25 feet of water. The bigger gills were caught near the bottom. A small jig or hook baited with a giant redworm, waxworm, leafworm or small leech has worked best. Jig and plastic combos, along with black ant flies, tipped with a waxworm also have produced. Vertical jigging or a slip-bobber rig is the best way to present these baits. Largemouth bass action was spotty. Lo… Continue

Cody Barriere New to this website

I have been fishing for awhile but i mostly fish in the summertime. I love to fish trout the most because they are fun to catch especially when they jump out of the water and because they are good eaten. So in early spring and early fall i fish for the trout because they like it because it is cooler outside than it is in the summer. In the summer i mostly fish for perch because they are fun to catch when you get into them and because they are good eaten. I don't do it often but i fish for bass s… Continue

Don Wisconsin Fishing Report - July 8th, 2009

Weekly fishing report Posted: July 8, 2009 AREA LAKES Many largemouth bass were caught around piers and other shallow water structure. Casting pre-rigged worms, wacky worms, tubes, spinner baits, shallow-running crank baits or nightcrawlers around these areas will work well. But if you want big bass, head out to deeper water near deeper weed lines, humps or points. Texas- or Carolina-rigged plastics, swim baits, drop-shot rigs, jig-and-craw combos, deep-diving crank baits and large golden sh… Continue

Don WI Fishing Report - July 1st, 2009

Posted: July 1, 2009 AREA LAKES Bluegills were done spawning on most area lakes. Look for them along weed lines in 8-17 feet of water. Some fish may start to suspend over deeper water soon. Giant redworms, leaf worms, wax worms, hellgrammites and panfish leeches work best. Bait these on a small hook or jig and suspend under a slip float or vertical jig along the weeds. A jig and plastic combo baited with a waxwork also has produced. Perch action was good on Lake Monona. Fish the weed lines in… Continue
